Laem Sing Sunday.
29. nov 2009 16:34, MikkelFirst Sunday in advent and according to the shopping malls all over the world, this means Christmas is right around the corner. Here in Phuket we are happily avoiding the premature Christmas crap which IMHO ruins the holiday season. Come on... 2 months of Christmas jingles is a bit too much for just about anyone??
But even if the shops around here only start kicking things off around this time, we are blessed with decorations tacky and confusing enough to be a pure delight compared to the designer christmas consumer traps of Europe. Christmas trees can be pink plastic and everyone knows that fluffy shiny elephants with multicolored LED lights flickering all about is REAL Christmas.
...and just now Marianne got inspired and popped out to our storage room to find our very own blinking christmas lightshow. Truth be told, I love it. It might be tacky and it might be in poor taste but it is Christmas in Casa Fjelde-Gram-Hansen and that means cookies and good times.
Long story short, it's sunday, Premier league is on, with El Classico beckoning a few hours ahead, and I have time to blog on the laptop while Arsenal and Chelsea face off. Nothing much has happened, but I'm trying to get back in the habit of writing something nomatter what ;)
Day started late and slow since we got to bed pretty late. Marianne had a girls night out and I played my role as the designated chauffeur, standing by awaiting the " I wanna go home" call. High season is upon us (although not in full force just yet) and our usual haunts are now crowded by people whom we don't know and who by our reckoning have no business playing on OUR pool tables and taking the attention of OUR bar girls (and boys) but the girl-gang had a good time despite all them people and managed to keep it going until the driver was half asleep on the couch back home ;) Or rather half asleep in front of the monitor playing Bioshock, great great game that I have not had time to enjoy before this week. Big thumbs up to a really captivating game, go buy it.

Girls Night Out... Johan sneaked in.
Anyways, we finally got up to another bright sunshiny day and got busy doing nothing. Still besides doing nothing the day had two highlights: One: my diet/detox is over and starting tomorrow I can eat and drink as I please, and believe me I please !!

Marianne showing how to do nothing...
Two, we get our stuff together and went to Laem Sing Beach for a late afternoon dip and to watch the beautiful sunset there. It might be a bit more crowded than two years ago and it might be the most public "secret" beach on the globe, but it's still our favorite beach and it still feels like an exotic vacation to head down the steep trail and step out between the palm trees to the very tropic view of sun, sand, salespeople and various shades of red sunburn on the new arrivals.

The Little Mermaid at Laem Sing Beach... I love the cloud formations.
Thats about it, I'm planning to get a gokart event going sometime next week with a bunch of the usual suspects from around here... I still got 3-4 more weeks with walking and exercise bike to endure before I can start putting some real pressure on the leg, but I'm getting there slowly and hope to have regained just a tiny bit of stamina and endurance in my legs when the time comes to take to the squash court again.
