Assorted news and small updates.
2. feb 2009 02:05, MikkelIt's 0700 and I have been up a few hours already after 4 hours of sleep. It's Superbowl morning and in this timezone that means getting up early. As usual the SUperbowl is 80% extended commercial breaks so there should be plenty of time for a bit of blogging in the couch´. Don't even have a favorite team this year, but it's tradition to watch the game, so here I am, and it's a glorious sunshine morning outside.. blue sky and already growing hot and bright.
I wrote what transformed from a small update about a soccer match into a long raving rant, but decided not to up it just yet.. needs a bit of tweaking. I usually never bother to read what I write before posting, but this one was a tad too "argumentative" so it'll have to keep for a while longer. Instead here is a quick rundown of life over the past few weeks. Not that much going on other than work, work and more work, but when comparing to the drama some of the other Danes down here are experiencing I think I prefer my own quiet life. Won't go into detailsbut someone had his angry Thai girlfriend swinging at him and calling the police on him demanding he be jailed.... Yep I like it quiet and uneventful;)
First of all, my younger brother Lasse and his wife Sandra made me an uncle once over again. Got the happy call the other night and want to the nearest bar with Mciahel in search of the customary cigar and a drink to follow it along. Sandra gave birth jto a son, 3 weeks early, but everything went smooth and according to plan... everyone is healthy and all is well. Looking forward to hitting Denmark soon enough and seeing the new addition to the clan, Victor is his name. (I think?) So now I'm a quadruple uncle and IMHO that means I don't have to think about giving my parents any grandchildren, at least not anytime soon.
On the topic of babies our coking help from a long time ago, Pu, (and our favorite at it, read back in the blogs to learn more on the topic) made a surprise comeback to Phuketalong with her husband Robert. Pu brought along a fine healthy 2 month old boy, great to see that happy little family. Robert is getting used to life in Northern rural Thailand as opposed to Canada. Sleeping on concrete floors, living in a house with tin roof, no aircon, lots of family members, no tables or chairs etc etc. and he seems happier than ever after going completely native with his wife and her family. Pictures will be added later.
On the topic of Denmark, I (we) have settled on a date for my return to Denmark and a general schedule for my stay. I'll settle in on an Air Austria flight March 23rd and arrive in Copenhagen in the morning of the 24th. Plan is to stay in Denmark for 3 months so I have a chance to catch up with all that has happened back up North.'
After the 3 months in Denmark I'll come back to Kamala in late June and sit back and wait for Marianne to join me approx. 2 months later. 3 days ago I got word that we can rent this very appartment for another year, I jumped at the chance immediately... so as it looks now me and Marianne will live here together from around August and around a year from that. Summer/Autumn 2010 looks like the end of Thailand for this time, as we have an open plan to return to Denmark either for good, or at least for a very extended period, once we get that far.
Think that is the longest running gameplan I have ever had in my life, not used to my perspective being much more than a week, or a month at best ;) Either getting old or Marianne is having a positive? effect on my way of thinking.
In other news the January squash results are in and it was a landslide win for yours truly. Official Phuket Squash Phenomenons Tournament - January: Mikkel vs. Michael = 27-7 in sets and 10-1 in matches.
Mikkel vs. New Guy (also named Michael) = 15-4 in sets and 5-0 in matches.
Grand total: 42-11 in sets and 15-1 in matches. Come on guys, you need to start practising a bit me thinks mwuahahahaaaaaaaaahahahaha.
The negative aspect is that my hamstring is still acting up, been bad for over a month now and I really should give it a rest before I mess it up worse... but I'm on a roll and I'm back in the trend where doing my daily excercise has become a routine more than a chore to overcome. Still not able to fit my old clothes again yet, but I'll get there, nobody beats me in stubbornnes or in pushing myself when I have made up my mind about something. 10 kilos lost was the goal I set for myself and 10 kilos it will be before I board the plane for Copenhagen.
Thats it for now, Bruce Springsteen is about to go on stage in the SuperBowl Halftime show and I'll grab myself a cup of coffee and start looking at getting some work done. Monday morning after all and I got a full plate for the week.
Btw. there are (infrequently) a spot of news from these parts posted on my FaceBook profile, so feel free to look me up there. Oh and comments are always appreciated, even if it's negative stuff like Mom protesting that my blogs are too long. They are, I know... and it won't change ;)

What drama !!! It was well worth getting up for. Must admit I was cheering the Cardinals on in the fantastic 4th quarter comeback, but when the Steelers turned things around in the final seconds that was all good as well. The sheer intensity.. wow.
